Kuala Lumpur, April 11 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made a meaningful return to the International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM) in Gombak this morning, revisiting his roots as a former leader of the institution while continuing his Temu Anwar engagement series.
The visit provided a platform for a robust dialogue with students and academics, where Anwar reflected on the Malaysian MADANI Government’s ongoing efforts to confront national and global challenges.
“During this dialogue session, I was able to share the Malaysian MADANI Government’s determination in facing various challenges, including efforts to resolve pressing international issues,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister also addressed questions from students regarding youth development, employment opportunities, and reforms being undertaken under the current administration.
“I also had the opportunity to respond to questions related to student development, job prospects, and the reforms that have been and are being implemented by the MADANI Government,” he shared.
A key highlight of the visit was the ceremonial presentation of a USD300,000 contribution to the AbuSulayman International Student Fund (AISF), aimed at assisting international students in financial need throughout their studies at UIAM.
“God willing, this fund will continue to support international students who require financial aid during their time at the University,” he remarked.
In the same event, Anwar also expressed his gratitude to Shenandoah University in Virginia, United States, for conferring upon him an Honorary Doctorate in Law, recognising his commitment to justice, leadership and human rights.
“I hope the strong collaboration between UIAM and Shenandoah University will be further strengthened for the benefit of students in learning values and cultures, enabling the younger generation to shape a more tolerant and peaceful world,” Anwar said.
The visit not only rekindled memories of his academic stewardship at UIAM, but also reinforced his vision of nurturing globally minded youth empowered by values, knowledge and inclusivity.
