TH reminds public not to spread unverified information.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 – Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has denied allegation that it has allocated certain quotas to private entities or private Hajj operators (PJH).
In a statement on Thursday, the Malaysian Hajj Pilgrims Fund Board reminds the public not to spread fake news or unverified information that may cause public unrest.
As widely known, the Hajj quota of 31,600 allocated by the Saudi Arabian Government follows an open registration system based on the “Register First, Prioritized” concept implemented since 1995.
Once prospective pilgrims are selected within the annual quota, they can choose whether to perform the pilgrimage through TH (Muassasah) or through licensed PJH companies appointed by TH.
Those who opt for PJH companies are usually financially capable and willing to pay more for enhanced services compared to Muassasah.
TH said: “The claim that TH only handles 11,000 pilgrims this year is untrue, as the majority, approximately 70% to 80%, are accommodated through Muassasah.
PJH companies, on the other hand, make payments to TH for each pilgrim for services and facilities in the Holy Land, including mandatory fees imposed by the Saudi authorities.
TH advises the public not to easily believe in viral fake news on social media. Prospective Malaysian Hajj pilgrims are encouraged to refer to TH’s official social media platforms for accurate and up-to-date information.
