SEPANG, Oct 4 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took to Facebook on Sunday to share his experience attending the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) 2024 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
The Prime Minister expressed his delight in witnessing the high-octane race and engaging with both local and international media covering the event.
“Melangkah masa menghadiri perlumbaan Grand Prix (GP) Motosikal Malaysia 2024 di Litar Antarabangsa Sepang (SIC). Saya juga sempat beramah mesra dengan rakan-rakan media tempatan dan antarabangsa yang membuat liputan selain di bawa meninjau fasiliti di SIC,” Anwar wrote.
The highlight of the event was the MotoGP race, where Francesco Bagnaia emerged victorious.

Bagnaia, riding for Ducati Lenovo Team, delivered a stellar performance, securing first place with a time of 38:04.563s. The race was a thrilling spectacle, with Bagnaia battling fiercely against Jorge Martin, who finished second, and Enea Bastianini, who took third place.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had the honor of presenting the trophy to Bagnaia, acknowledging his remarkable achievement. “Saya turut diberi penghormatan menyampaikan trofi kepada Francesco Bagnaia yang memenangi perlumbaan MotoGP,” he mentioned in his post.
The Sepang International Circuit, known for its challenging 5.543 km track with 15 turns, has been a staple in the MotoGP calendar, attracting fans from around the world.
This year, the event continued to uphold its reputation, drawing a large crowd and providing an unforgettable experience for motorsport enthusiasts.
Anwar also praised the SIC for their initiative in offering RAHMAH tickets, making the event more accessible to local motorsport fans. “Tahniah kepada SIC yang terus menawarkan inisiatif tiket RAHMAH buat para peminat sukan permotoran negara,” he added.

Petronas, the Malaysian oil and gas giant, played a significant role in the event as the title sponsor. The race was officially named the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting motorsport in the country.
Petronas has been a key partner in MotoGP, not only as a title sponsor but also as the exclusive fuel supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes. This partnership underscores Petronas’ dedication to advancing the sport and promoting sustainable fuel initiatives
