PUTRAJAYA, January 8, — Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, has filed a police report and urged the Royal Malaysian Police to investigate claims of an alleged plot dubbed the ‘Dubai Move.’ This movement, allegedly initiated by several Members of Parliament, including opposition leaders, is believed to pose a threat to parliamentary democracy and national security.
Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin expressed grave concern over the potential repercussions of this alleged movement, stating, “I believe this movement was initiated by several MPs, including irresponsible opposition leaders. Their actions can indeed be detrimental to parliamentary democracy, causing unrest and public anxiety. Attempts to create political instability that could threaten national security must be thwarted.”
He further emphasized the need for immediate action, affirming, “I have requested the Royal Malaysian Police to investigate this movement, which blatantly contradicts Sections 124B and 124C of the Penal Code. Hence, to those who persist, it is reminded that existing laws must be enforced to punish them.”
These statements come in response to revelations made by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, alleging concerted efforts by opposition figures to topple the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Twelve identical police reports have been filed nationwide regarding this matter.
The “Dubai Move” has sparked debates regarding its legality and potential implications within the country’s political landscape, particularly in light of the Anti-Party Hopping Act designed to maintain stability in government transitions.
