KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 – In a landmark collaboration, Asia RV and Mayflower Car Rental have teamed up to introduce Knaus Tabbert’s premium German-engineered campervans to the Malaysian market.

This initiative, which was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Matta Fair 2024, promises to redefine luxury travel in Malaysia.

Abdul Rahman Mohamed, General Manager (Business Development) of May Flower Group, and Thomas Bernthaler, Managing Director of Asia RV Sdn Bhd, discussed the potential of this new venture with TNS News.

Abdul Rahman emphasized the unique lifestyle experience that Knaus Tabbert’s campervans offer, aligning perfectly with the Malaysian trend towards a luxurious yet nature-centric way of travel.

Also present at the ribbon cutting ceremony were Gerd Adamietzki, Board of Management/CSO of Knaus Tabbert AG, Datuk Ragu Sampasivam, Chief Operating Officer of the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), Bernhard Schutte Chairman and Chief Advisor in TAPiO Management Advisory, Mayflower Group Chief Executive Officer, Dawn Chin, Andrew O’Brooks, Managing Director/Vice President of MAN Truck & Bus Sdn Bhd and Dr Chee Ping Ngang, Director, Research and Development Division, PLAN Malaysia, Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

The partnership between Asia RV and Mayflower Car Rental is not just about introducing a new product; it is about cultivating a complete ecosystem for caravanning in Malaysia.

This includes the development of caravan parks and other infrastructure to support this new mode of travel.

Abdul Rahman said: “We think it is an opportunity to launch this new product that we want to introduce to the Malaysian market. A lot of groundwork has been done for the past two, three months, so this is the auspicious day where we actually launched the product.”
“I know this product is quite new in Malaysia Market, but we believe it has all the potential. Basically, we are introducing a new lifestyle experience, knowing that a lot of people wanted to take charge of their own holiday, empowered their own holiday,” he said.

With this, he said, “they give you that freedom to move around the mobility, the experience closer to the nature.”

Abdul Rahman said: “MayFlower will focus the caravanning experiences on the domestic market, and would work together with the government in coming up with a proper ecosystem, such as the Caravan park and what not.
