KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 – The 15th ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (AMOM) successfully concluded today after four days of strategic discussions aimed at strengthening regional military cooperation.
The meeting, held from 6 to 9 September 2025 at the InterContinental Hotel, brought together delegations from all ten ASEAN member states: Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Under the theme “ASEAN: Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the conference highlighted the shared responsibility of member nations in addressing regional security challenges. Throughout the sessions, delegates unanimously agreed that security is a collective duty and that regional cooperation must be continuously enhanced.
A key outcome of the meeting was the planning of ASEAN’s joint military activities for the 2026-2027 period, an initiative designed to foster a spirit of togetherness in facing security issues.
The resolutions passed during the AMOM will be formally presented at the upcoming 22nd ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Meeting (22nd ACDFM), which is scheduled to take place from 9 to 12 September 2025.
The delegations were officially welcomed to Kuala Lumpur by the Assistant Chief of Staff of Defence Operations and Training, Major General Dato’ Indera Zahari bin Mohd Ariffin.

- Brunei: Colonel Pengiran Noor Rumaizi bin Pengiran Othman
- Cambodia: Major General Nim Balene
- Indonesia: Air First Marshal M. Taufiq Arasj
- Laos: Brigadier General Thongsamay Soukpaseut
- Myanmar: Lieutenant General Than Htike
- Philippines: Major General Elmer B. Suderio
- Singapore: Brigadier General Letchumanan Narayanan
- Thailand: Lieutenant General Jakkapong Janpengpen
- Vietnam: Lieutenant General Nguyen Huy Canh
The successful hosting of the AMOM affirms Malaysia’s role as a strategic partner and a driver of regional defence diplomacy.
