Parents Arrested After 6-Year-Old Boy Slashed in Batu Pahat Home

Batu Pahat, Oct 28 — Police have arrested the parents of a six-year-old boy who suffered serious neck injuries after being slashed with a sharp object at their home in Batu Pahat. Both suspects, aged 41, were detained at the district police headquarters at 4pm to assist investigations.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the arrests, stating that the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon, and Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect resulting in physical or emotional harm.

“The arrest is part of efforts to complete the investigation and determine the actual cause of the incident,” Shahrulanuar said in a statement.

Earlier, police reported that the boy’s condition had stabilised and he was able to speak after undergoing neck surgery. He remains under intensive care at Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail.

Authorities are now examining the family’s background and living conditions, while forensic teams process the scene for evidence. Police have urged the public not to speculate and to allow the investigation to proceed.
