KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 – The second intake of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 is officially underway, as the Ministry of Defence Malaysia announced the commencement of candidate selection starting today. This revitalised initiative aims to instil patriotism, discipline, and leadership among Malaysian youth under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
Running from May 11 to June 24, 2025, the 45-day programme will take place at Kem Rejimen 515 Askar Wataniah in Kuala Lumpur and Kem Rejimen 505 Askar Wataniah in Pekan, Pahang, with 550 trainees expected to participate in this phase.
“PLKN 3.0 has been structured to produce a generation that is mentally, physically, and emotionally resilient,” stated the National Service Training Department (JLKN) in its official release. “It incorporates a blend of 70% Basic Military Training and 30% Nationhood Modules designed to build a sense of belonging and civic responsibility.”
Under the military component, trainees will undergo basic military skills, national security awareness, MADANI livelihood fundamentals, and leadership training. Meanwhile, the nationhood segment focuses on identity formation, patriotism, and social unity.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to reinvigorate youth involvement in national resilience and security. It reflects a return to structured civic grooming—rooted in the philosophy that national defence is a shared responsibility.
Those selected can check their status via the JLKN website at https://jlkn.mod.gov.my or contact 03-40133613 / 03-40133618 for further information.
