KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 – In a heartfelt Deepavali message, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the festival’s profound symbolism of light triumphing over darkness and called on Malaysians to embrace unity, mutual respect, and compassion during this festive season.
Anwar emphasized the importance of fostering respect and understanding among Malaysia’s diverse communities. He urged everyone to use this festive period to strengthen unity and seek common ground, while also showing compassion towards those living in poverty and hardship.
“Deepavali arrives with joy and the spirit of celebrating the ‘Festival of Lights’ as a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, goodness over evil, and the strength of knowledge over ignorance and arrogance,” he said in his Facebook posting.
