Kuala Lumpur, Oct 14 — A female Form Four pupil was fatally stabbed in a girls’ washroom at SMK Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya this morning, with a 14‑year‑old male classmate arrested at the scene and due to be remanded tomorrow as police compile a juvenile investigation file.
Petaling Jaya police, led by Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, cordoned the area, seized an alleged sharp object and began taking statements from teachers and classmates after the attack, which officers said occurred at about 9.30am during lesson time.
Teachers who heard screams rushed to the cubicle and found the pupil gravely injured; she was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead, her identity withheld because she is a minor.
Initial witness accounts in local reports suggest the suspect had allegedly confessed romantic feelings to the victim the night before and was rejected, a line of inquiry police are pursuing alongside forensic examinations and witness interviews.
Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said: “The suspect will be remanded tomorrow to assist investigations. We are treating this as a serious case involving minors and will proceed according to juvenile procedures.” He added: “We urge the public not to speculate and allow the investigation to run its course”.
The school has notified the Education Department, arranged trauma counselling for pupils and staff, and suspended classes for the affected cohort while police continue to record statements and process forensic evidence as they finalise the investigation file for the magistrates’ court.
