SEREMBAN, 15 Oct – Enforcement, Leadership and Management University (ELMU) played host to its first cohort of 41 students at ELMU’s Orientation Ceremony at its Bandar Enstek, Nilai campus recently.
ELMU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Kassim Noor Mohamed said, “the oath taking ceremony on October 6th marked a significant milestone for the 41 students when they walked through the ELMU campus as the first cohort of new students of the first law enforcement university in the Asian region. Both the MACC officers and the self-funded students are the pioneers embarking on a new journey at our campus,” he said in a statement here today. ” The new students were enrolled in nine out of eleven academic pogrammes offered at ELMU from Diploma until the Doctor of Philosophy,” he added.

Wan Mohd. Firdaus Wan Yusof, 36, the Document Forensics Branch Head at MACC’s Forensics Technology Division said, he chose to further his studies at ELMU because it is the only university that offers Leadership & Management programmes in the context of law enforcement. “I shall be doing the Master in Law Enforcement programme which I prefer over the other programmes because its modules offer a global perspective and focus on transnational crime threats. I already have a global network through MACC and this program will further strengthen this network,” he said.
A Royal Malaysian Police officer, Noor Mohamed Mohd. Kassim, 44, who is enrolled in the Master of Science in Intelligence and Surveillance programme believed that education is the key to a successful career. “I think it has become necessary for every employee, including officers in law enforcement agencies like the Royal Malaysian Police to continue learning and equip themselves with new knowledge and skills,” he said.
Making up the numbers were 21 officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) while the rest are self-funded students. The MACC officers are partially funded by the ELMU Foundation in collaboration with Yayasan Prihatin SPRM.

Noor Mohamed who also led the oath taking at ELMU’s Orientation Ceremony said that the Master of Science in Intelligence and Surveillance programme which is not available anywhere else in Malaysia is very much related to his duties as a law enforcement officer.“I chose this course to strengthen my knowledge in the field of intelligence, something which has become my passion developed from my years of service as a police officer,” he added.
