KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 – Amid growing regional challenges, Malaysia and Egypt are reaffirming their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties through strategic cooperation.
During a courtesy call on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim discussed a broad range of topics aimed at enhancing collaboration and addressing key regional concerns.
“During our meeting, we explored numerous opportunities to deepen the partnership between Malaysia and Egypt, focusing on sectors such as investment, trade, palm oil, halal industries, education, tourism, healthcare, and renewable energy,” said Anwar.

“This cooperation will be pivotal in fostering economic resilience and sustainable growth for both our nations.”
Currently in Cairo, Prime Minister Anwar expressed Malaysia’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s support in Malaysia’s participation in BRICS, highlighting the significance of this partnership for global economic collaboration. “I conveyed Malaysia’s gratitude to President El-Sisi for Egypt’s support in our participation in BRICS, which underscores our shared commitment to fostering greater economic cooperation and sustainable development,” Anwar added.

The discussions also focused on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. “We recognize Egypt’s significant efforts, alongside Qatar and the United States, in seeking a resolution to the humanitarian crisis caused by the aggression of the Zionist regime,”
Anwar said. “Malaysia remains steadfast in advocating for a just resolution that prioritizes the well-being of the Palestinian people and upholds human dignity.”
He and President El-Sisi also shared concerns over the escalating conflict in Lebanon, stressing the need for urgent action to prevent further destabilization of the region.
“The situation in Lebanon is deeply concerning,” Anwar stated. “Both our nations agree that we must take a proactive and resolute stance to halt the violence and safeguard regional peace and security.”

Anwar’s visit to Cairo emphasizes the strengthening of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Egypt, with both nations committed to fostering long-term cooperation and contributing to peace and stability in the Middle East.
“I am confident that the ties between Malaysia and Egypt will continue to grow stronger, bringing mutual prosperity and closer cooperation for the benefit of our people,” he concluded.
