Kuala Lumpur, Nov 5 – Astro, Malaysia’s leading content and entertainment company, is reinforcing its commitment to environmental awareness with the “Rimba Kita” initiative. Set to take place at Putrajaya Wetlands Park on 23 November 2024 at 6:00 a.m., the event highlights Astro’s drive to engage the Malaysian community in sustainable practices and climate action.
The Rimba Kita Run, an eco- and family-friendly 5km event, invites participants to support environmental causes while promoting fitness and awareness around climate change. This year’s run will feature a special appearance by ‘Oga and Friends,’ popular characters on Astro Ceria, providing a fun, interactive experience for families and young ones. Participants can also look forward to exclusive merchandise and exciting prizes.
Entry fees for adults are set at RM40 (excluding T-shirt) and RM55 (including T-shirt), while kids’ entry fees are RM25 (excluding T-shirt) and RM40 (including T-shirt). Proceeds from registration will support vital conservation and preservation projects under the Rimba Kita programme. Those interested can register at this link.
Astro’s ongoing Rimba Kita initiative also involves year-round collaborations with significant environmental organisations, including WWF Malaysia and the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB), to foster positive change through advocacy. Additionally, the programme supports tree adoption and forest rehabilitation efforts in partnership with Taman Tugu and the Global Environment Centre.
As part of the Rimba Kita Programme, Astro will offer an exclusive Rimba Kita On-Demand reel from 11 November to 1 December. This selection will feature nature documentaries and local favourites such as “Secrets of The Enchanted Forest” and WWF’s “The Flora Wonders of Fraser’s Hill.” Available on Astro GO at no extra cost, customers who watch these features can also stand a chance to win prizes.
