Kuala Lumpur, 10 Jan – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has unveiled its list of top five young talents to watch in the imminent Asian Cup, and among them, Malaysian winger Arif Aiman from Johor Darul Ta’zim stands tall.
“A remarkable year” is how the AFC describes the 21-year-old winger’s journey. His pivotal role in securing the Malaysia Super League title for Johor Darul Ta’zim for the 10th consecutive season, marked by 12 goals and numerous assists, sets a glowing precedent.
Beyond the domestic realm, Arif’s prowess transcended into international fixtures. Notably, his four-goal spectacle in Malaysia’s 10-0 victory against Papua New Guinea in June and the hat-trick of assists against the Kyrgyz Republic in November underscore his impact on the international stage.
“Arif’s pace and footwork make him a formidable opponent for any defender,” the AFC acknowledged, hinting at the strategic advantage he brings to the Harimau Malaya as they gear up for their first appearance in the continental showpiece since 2007.
The AFC’s spotlight on Arif Aiman amidst a stellar lineup of young talents has set the stage for an exhilarating Asian Cup. The anticipation mounts as these emerging stars, including Arif, prepare to shine on the field, promising an enthralling tournament ahead.
