Trump’s victory, marking a return to the White House after a previous term, has been met with messages of optimism and calls for renewed U.S. engagement in the Asia-Pacific.
Malaysia’s PM Anwar Ibrahim: “A New Chapter of Collaboration”
Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was among the first ASEAN leaders to send a congratulatory message, sharing his remarks on Facebook.

“Congratulations to Donald J. Trump on his remarkable political comeback and victory in the US presidential election,” Anwar stated. “This new chapter brings renewed opportunities, and we’re ready to move forward with optimism, collaboration, and shared purpose.”
Anwar highlighted the United States’ longstanding role as Malaysia’s largest source of foreign investment and emphasized the strategic importance of the U.S. in the Asia-Pacific region. As Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chair in 2025, he urged the U.S. to reinvigorate its engagement with Southeast Asia, underscoring ASEAN’s interest in a robust U.S.-ASEAN partnership.
“We also urge the U.S. to use its considerable influence to help end the devastating violence and loss of life in Palestine and Ukraine,” Anwar continued. “We look forward to working closely with the incoming president to foster mutual benefits for the people of both our nations.”

Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, extended his congratulations to President-elect Trump in a formal letter. PM Wong lauded Trump’s electoral achievement and emphasized the resilience of U.S.-Singapore relations, based on shared values and a commitment to peace and stability. Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto: A Strategic Partnership for Stability
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, in a heartfelt Facebook post, also congratulated President-elect Trump. Reflecting on the strategic partnership shared by Indonesia and the United States, Prabowo underscored the potential for deepened cooperation that serves both national interests and global peace.
