SEREMBAN, Jan 23 – The Enforcement, Leadership and Management University (ELMU) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with three international institutions to foster innovation, enhance academic experiences, and address complex global challenges. The agreements were formalised on Tuesday between ELMU and Indonesia’s Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Nasional (UNAS), and Denmark’s Special International Risk and Advanced Security (SIRAS) Academy.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ELMU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Kassim Noor Mohamed, highlighted the significance of these partnerships in promoting academic exchange, research collaborations, and joint programmes. “This collaboration will provide students and faculty with the opportunity to share diverse skills and resources, enriching their academic journeys,” he stated.
The MoUs aim to encourage cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, aligning with Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN this year. “These collaborations will serve as catalysts for future joint initiatives, turning shared goals into realities,” Kassim added.
UB’s representative, Prof. Dr. Hagus Tarno, expressed optimism that the partnership would enhance his university’s academic profile, particularly in leadership and management. Meanwhile, UNAS’s Dr. Mochamad Ali Asgar looked forward to joint efforts in criminal investigation and forensics, disciplines in high demand in Indonesia.
SIRAS Academy’s founder, Kent Haakonsson, remarked that the collaboration with ELMU presents a valuable opportunity to deliver high-quality training programmes tailored for both government and private sectors. “Our goal is to provide students not only with knowledge and skills but also with the right mindset,” he said.
ELMU is renowned as the first full-fledged university in Malaysia dedicated to law enforcement education, offering programmes from foundation to postgraduate levels. Universitas Brawijaya, established in 1961, is one of Indonesia’s top institutions with over 70,000 students. Universitas Nasional, founded in 1949, is Jakarta’s oldest private university. SIRAS Academy, with over two decades of expertise, is Europe’s largest security training centre.
