KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) announced today that institutions of higher learning will be given the flexibility to conduct teaching and learning (PdP) sessions online or physically, in light of road closures and security controls for the upcoming 46th ASEAN Summit. The summit is scheduled to take place from May 26 to 28, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.

Recognizing the potential impact on traffic flow and the well-being of students and staff, MoHE emphasized its commitment to the core values of Malaysia MADANI. Public and private higher education institutions (IPTA/IPTS) are advised to review the locations, times, and dates of road closures between May 26 and 28 to determine the necessity of online PdP sessions. This proactive measure aims to mitigate disruptions caused by expected traffic congestion.

Students and staff who anticipate being affected by the road closures are encouraged to contact their respective institutions for further information and guidance. The ministry expressed confidence that the option for online PdP will enable individuals to better plan their movements while ensuring the smooth continuation of academic activities.
