PETALING JAYA, Sept 16 – Tan Sri Abd Halim Ali, Chairman of SEDANIA Innovator Berhad and former Chief Secretary for the Government, has publicly denied false reports circulating on online portals and social media regarding his health.
The claims, which suggested that Abd Halim had passed away, are entirely untrue. The false news has caused unnecessary distress among his family and loved ones, prompting Abd Halim to call for immediate action against those responsible for spreading these baseless rumours.
Abd Halim expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming well-wishes and prayers but emphasised the need to put an end to the unfounded rumours. “I am alive and well. However, the false news has caused unnecessary panic and distress among my family and loved ones. Since last night, I have been receiving numerous calls from close ones, friends, and acquaintances, which has only fuelled anxiety and worry,” said Abd Halim, in a statement here today.
Taking the unfounded news with a pinch of salt, Abd Halim said, “Like SEDANIA, I’m still strong and healthy! I’m thoroughly enjoying my regular morning walks every day and am eagerly looking forward to an exhilarating journey ahead.”
He also hopes that authorities will take swift action to identify and address the individual or group responsible for spreading the harmful rumour. “These false reports do nothing but spread fear and confusion. I trust that the authorities will find those responsible for this act,” he added.
A formal police report and a report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are in process. SEDANIA Innovator Berhad has also formally requested that all media outlets responsible for disseminating this false news promptly remove their reports and issue a public apology to Tan Sri Abd Halim for the distress and inconvenience caused.
