KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 – Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has proposed implementing work-from-home (WFH) arrangements and home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) in the Klang Valley during the upcoming ASEAN Summits to alleviate traffic congestion.
The proposal comes after significant road closures in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent state visit, which caused considerable inconvenience to the public.
“I would like to propose to the Cabinet that if government department staff can work from home and schools can conduct lessons from home, it would help reduce congestion and lessen the inconvenience to the public, especially in the Klang Valley,” Mohamad stated.
He also extended an apology to those affected by the road closures, acknowledging the disruptions caused.
The Cabinet is expected to deliberate on this proposal ahead of the 46th ASEAN Summit scheduled for May 26–27 and the ASEAN Summit with Dialogue Partners in late October.
This initiative aims to ensure smoother logistics and enhanced security during these significant international events, reflecting Malaysia’s commitment to efficient event management and public convenience.
