Seoul, Nov 25 — South Korea is mourning the loss of veteran actor Lee Soon-jae, who passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 91.
Lee Soon-jae, celebrated as one of Korea’s longest-serving actors, had a career spanning more than seven decades. He appeared in over 140 productions, including dramas, films, and stage plays. In 2023, he made history by becoming the oldest recipient of the Grand Prize at the KBS Drama Awards.
His agency, SG Way Entertainment, confirmed the news, while President Lee Jae Myung expressed condolences, describing him as a “beloved star across generations.” “We will always remember him as a true national actor,” the President said.
Lee Soon-jae remained active until recently, performing in Waiting for Godot and starring in the drama Dog Knows Everything. His dedication to the arts earned him the nickname “TV Dad” and “Grandpa” among fans.
Born in 1934, Lee studied philosophy at Seoul National University before embarking on his acting career in the 1950s. His passing marks the end of an era in Korean entertainment, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
