Kuala Lumpur, Jan 13— Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended the 74th meeting of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI), chaired by Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah of Perak, where discussions focused on leadership, education empowerment and management of Islamic affairs to meet current challenges and strengthen values, knowledge and conscience among Muslims.
Anwar said the meeting reflected consensus and cooperation between the Federal Government and state governments in strategizing for the benefit of the Muslim community, in line with contemporary needs and Malaysia’s plural society. He added: “The MADANI Government will continue to strengthen Islamic affairs inclusively and effectively through inter‑state deliberation, based on the Federal Constitution and supported by the values and aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, for the well‑being of the community and lasting national harmony.”
The session underscored the importance of aligning Islamic governance with modern realities while ensuring unity and resilience across Malaysia’s diverse population.
