Kuala Lumpur, July 18 – Malaysia is set to be the global leader in 5G technology through its strategic partnership with Ericsson, one of the world’s leading information and communication technology companies headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.
During a meeting held in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim underscored the nation’s strategic investment and ongoing collaboration with the telecommunications giant, Ericsson. This partnership is set to position Malaysia as a global leader in 5G technology.
In his discussion with the Ericsson delegation, led by President and CEO Börje Ekholm, Anwar emphasized the significant strides Malaysia has made in implementing its 5G network.
Currently, Malaysia’s 5G coverage has exceeded 80 percent of the Coverage of Populated Areas (CoPA), boasting performance and user experience among the best in the world.
Anwar said he expressed this desire during a meeting with the Ericsson delegation led by the President and CEO of the group, Mr. Börje Ekholm.
Following the successful implementation of 5G in Malaysia, the prime minister invited the company for further investments, strategic partnerships, and expertise sharing to enhance the 5G network’s expansion capabilities, which can benefit all sectors.
“I hope that this close cooperation can drive widespread 5G usage and accelerate the growth of the digital economy in Malaysia,” he added.
