NUR@PETRA Program Helps Malaysians Cut Electricity Bills

By: Mike Paul

Kuala Lumpur, Nov 12 — Malaysia’s NUR@PETRA program, implemented by SEDA Malaysia with PETRA’s support, is offering rebates to households purchasing energy-efficient appliances, helping reduce electricity bills and support sustainable energy goals.

Under the NUR:DOMESTIK category, citizens are eligible for rebates up to RM400 for air conditioners and refrigerators with 4–5 star efficiency labels. More than 1,000 units remain available for Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

SEDA Malaysia said the program not only helps citizens lower living costs but also contributes to national sustainability targets. Applications for the domestic category are open until December 2025 or until quotas are exhausted.

The program also covers SMEs under NUR:PMKS and industries under NUR:CHILLER, but direct benefits to ordinary citizens are concentrated in the domestic category.
