Kuala Lumpur, Nov 13 — Genting Malaysia Berhad has confirmed that vehicles entering Jalan Genting Highlands will soon be subject to a private road charge, aimed at supporting long-term road safety and sustainability.
The 24-kilometer road, built and maintained by Genting Malaysia since the 1960s, has experienced heavy wear and tear due to high usage. The company stated that the fee will help cover maintenance, slope safety, and emergency response operations.
Details of the fee structure and implementation timeline will be announced in stages. Genting Malaysia emphasized that the road has played a vital role in catalyzing tourism, enterprise, and economic growth in the region.
