KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chaired the 46th National Physical Planning Council (MPFN) meeting, here today.
The event brought together key government officials and state representatives, including Cabinet ministers, Chief Ministers, and heads of various government agencies, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in national development.
The meeting addressed crucial topics related to urban, rural, and land-use planning, aiming to enhance growth through federal-state cooperation.
A major outcome of today’s meeting was the decision to establish a comprehensive Malaysian marine spatial planning policy, in line with international best practices.
The policy is designed to drive the implementation of the Blue Economy framework and improve marine governance.
“The development of this clear policy will allow us to optimize our maritime resources as a key economic driver while increasing investor confidence in Malaysia’s economic prospects,” said Prime Minister Anwar, highlighting the initiative’s potential to unlock the nation’s marine economy.

The roundtable also focused on advancing inclusive development by enhancing infrastructure accessibility for people with disabilities. The council, including state leaders and senior government officials, reached a consensus on improving facilities in public buildings and spaces across the country.
“In line with the MADANI principles that champion inclusivity, we must ensure that no group is left behind in enjoying the benefits of Malaysia’s development,” the Prime Minister stated, affirming the government’s commitment to inclusivity.
The participation of state representatives and top officials at today’s meeting signals a united approach toward sustainable development and inclusive growth, setting a solid foundation for Malaysia’s future economic and social advancements.
