Bangi, July 29 – Restoran Mayangs, located at Ostia Residensi Bangi near Bangi Gateway, officially opened its doors today, promising to deliver an authentic taste of Terengganu. The grand opening, marked by a diverse menu of traditional and fusion dishes, aims to attract food enthusiasts who appreciate the unique flavors of Malaysia’s east coast.

Originally named Lapar-Lapar, the restaurant underwent a rebranding to better reflect the owner’s Terengganu heritage. “After much thought, we decided on the name Mayangs to symbolize our roots. Mayangs evokes ‘Ulik Mayang,’ a cultural symbol of Terengganu, and immediately brings to mind the east coast,” explained Tengku Maziah Tengku Abdullah, the owner.

The restaurant offers a wide range of breakfast items, including nasi dagang, nasi minyak, nasi lemak, and a selection of Western dishes such as English breakfast and European bread from their own shop in Perlis. For lunch, patrons can enjoy Asian fusion dishes and various Western options. The drink menu features local coffee, special teh tarik, and ice-blended beverages, with the restaurant’s specialties being nasi dagang and mee kari.

Maziah shared her aspirations for the future, stating, “If we are blessed with good fortune, we will maintain our signature dishes. Franchising requires a lot of thought because it’s not easy, but if we’re fortunate, In Syaa Allah.”

Operating from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, except on Wednesdays, Mayangs invites future customers to taste and enjoy their offerings. “Please come and try our food. We hope you’ll be satisfied with the dishes here, In Syaa Allah. Thank you.”

The opening day menu featured nasi dagang as the specialty, along with mee kari, cakes and pastries, and authentic Negeri Sembilan dishes such as sup tulang (bone soup) and masak lemak daging salai (smoked beef).
