KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 – The Malaysian Scouts Association (MSA) is charting a new course of progress with unprecedented synergy between its National Scouts Council and the National Scouts Commissioners Council.
Chief Scout of Malaysia, Major-General Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin, announced during the first National Scouts Council meeting of the year that commissioners are now actively included in council deliberations—a shift in long-standing practice.
“At today’s meeting, we also saw members of the Commissioners Council participating. This indicates that we are taking a different approach. In the past, Commissioners Council members did not attend National Scouts Council meetings. Now, we are bringing them in,” said Mohd Zin in his opening remarks.
He emphasised that the unity between the two councils is vital in driving the MSA’s mission to develop high-quality youth with strong character and identity.
“We have played our role very well so far. Scouting is the best platform to develop the potential of youths,” he said.
Mohd Zin reaffirmed the relevance of the MSA, noting that even at 117 years old, the movement remains one of Malaysia’s most effective youth platforms.
“No other youth organisation can match the scouting movement in terms of global reach and impact. Scouting has proven across the world that it can change lives for the better. Many national and community leaders started their journey in the scouting movement,” he added.
The meeting was also attended by Datuk Ahmad Shazily Ismail Bakti, Deputy President of the National Scouts Council; Dr Mohammed Mukhyuddin Sarwani, Acting Chief Commissioner of Scouts; and Tan Sri Johari Abdul, Parliament Speaker and council member.
