Kuala Lumpur, August 5 – In a strategic move to bolster governance and drive future growth, SEDANIA Innovator Berhad announced the appointment of Tun Md Raus, the 14th Chief Justice of Malaysia, as an Independent Non-Executive Director on its Board of Directors, effective August 2, 2024. With an illustrious career in the Malaysian judiciary and legal service, Md Raus brings invaluable expertise to the company.
Md Raus’s distinguished career in the Malaysian judiciary began in 1976, where he held pivotal roles, including Magistrate President of the Sessions Court, Deputy Public Prosecutor, and Legal Advisor to several ministries such as the Ministry of International Trade, Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. He also served as the State Legal Advisor for Malacca and Kelantan, concluding his legal service as the Treasury Solicitor with the Ministry of Finance.
Elevated to Judicial Commissioner on November 1, 1994, and subsequently to High Court Judge on January 12, 1996, Md Raus has presided over the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Division, Civil Division (Family Court), Commercial Division, and the Appellate and Special Powers Division. He was later promoted to the Court of Appeal in 2006 and the Federal Court in 2009, ultimately becoming the 14th Chief Justice of Malaysia on April 1, 2017. Internationally, Md Raus has served as the President of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions and has been active in the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ).
