SIRIM and ELMU Unite to Drive National Excellence in Standards and Innovation

SEREMBAN, May 5 – SIRIM Berhad and Enforcement, Leadership & Management University (ELMU) today entered into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at ELMU’s campus in Bandar Enstek, Nilai. The collaboration is poised to strengthen Malaysia’s capabilities in policy execution, global branding, and innovation capacity building.

The MoU was formalised by SIRIM President and Group CEO, Datuk Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, and ELMU Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Kassim Noor Mohamed, setting the stage for a joint push towards excellence in education, training, and technological advancement.

Sabirin, in his address, underscored the national importance of the alliance.

“We share a common goal, that is to strengthen the nation’s capabilities in enforcement, leadership, management, and emerging technologies. ELMU’s focus on enforcement and leadership education complements SIRIM’s strengths in standards, quality, and innovation.”

He revealed that the MoU would see both institutions co-develop micro-credential certifications and industry-focused training in areas such as quality management in law enforcement, disaster response, corporate liability, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The cooperation also encompasses joint research, innovation-led projects, and the sharing of technical infrastructure, particularly in AI, big data analytics, and sustainable development technologies.

Welcoming the partnership, Kassim expressed his optimism about its long-term impact.

“This MoU reflects our shared objective to raise performance benchmarks, empower industries through knowledge and certification, and support national development through education and innovation.”

He also officiated the launch of ELMU’s ESG initiative, emphasising the shared sustainability goals of both institutions.

“The ESG initiative and MoU with SIRIM send a clear message. ELMU is ready to lead, to challenge outdated norms, to innovate, and to be part of the solution to the most pressing challenges of our time.”

Among those present at the ceremony were Dato’ Hairul Ridza Hayata, Deputy Group CEO of ELMU; Datin Noraini Aripin, CFO of ELMU; Mohd Faisal Abdul Shukor, Group Chief Marketing Officer of SIRIM; and Nik Sazali Nik Hussin, CEO of SIRIM Academy.
