Kota Kinabalu, Nov 9 — The federal government has declared its unwavering commitment to Sabah’s fiscal rights, marking the first time since 1974 that payments were made without delay, court intervention, or political bargaining.
Speaking at Gaya Market, the Prime Minister emphasized, “For the first time since 1974, we are not delaying or waiting for court rulings or political threats. We are implementing this because we have a clear political will to deliver justice to Sabah.”
The MADANI administration has disbursed RM300 million in 2023, RM400 million in 2024, and RM600 million in 2025 — totaling RM1.3 billion in interim payments. “Sabah collects RM10 billion annually, but we return more than RM17 billion. This is what we call executing political resolve,” he added.
He also called for an end to the culture of trading Sabah’s rights. “We must end the culture of trading Sabah’s rights and question those who have been greedy and negligent of Sabah’s entitlements.”
The statement was delivered in front of Sabah youth and market-goers, reinforcing the government’s stance that “Sabah belongs to the people of Sabah.”
