Kuala Lumpur, August 20 – The 2024 MotoGP Malaysia is set to be a landmark event, not just for the thrilling races but also for its wide-reaching impact on tourism, youth engagement, and the local economy. As part of the festivities, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will host an after-race festival featuring international and local music stars, while a mega contest will offer fans the chance to win coveted prizes.

CEO of Sepang International Circuit, Azhan Shafriman Hanif, highlighted the significance of this year’s event, noting, “This year will be an incredible celebration, whereby Petronas as our sponsor is celebrating its 50th year. Dorna itself, the MotoGP event organizer, is celebrating its 75th year. And also Petronas SIC is celebrating its 25th year.”

The after-race festival promises to be a highlight, with performances by artists such as Macklemore, Smash Mouth, 6ixth Sense, Nidji, Defam, and Feel Koplo. Early bird ticket pricing is available for the festival, with a discounted rate of RM 500 until August 31st, after which the price will increase to RM 600. “For this after-race event, we’ll be offering a special price ticket at 500 ringgit on top of the MotoGP ticket…after the 31st of August, the price will go up to 600 ringgit,” Hanif added.

A mega contest will add to the excitement, giving attendees a chance to win grand prizes, including two Yamaha LC 135 motorcycles and one Yamaha Y15. “We’ll be running a mega contest, and the lucky draw will be announced during the race weekend,” Hanif confirmed.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli, underscored the broader impact of MotoGP Malaysia, particularly in terms of tourism and youth engagement. “MotoGP Malaysia is more than just a thrilling sporting spectacle, it’s a powerful catalyst for economic growth,” he said. “The influx of fans from around the world provides a significant boost to our tourism sector,” Adli added, highlighting the event’s importance in showcasing Malaysia as a top tourist destination.

In line with these goals, initiatives like Rakan Muda and Rakan Litar will be integrated into the event to engage and develop the next generation of motorsports talent. “We are deeply invested in the future of motorsports in Malaysia,” Adam Adli remarked, underlining the strategic collaboration between the government, Petronas, and SIC.

With ticket sales already at 50%, Hanif urged fans to secure their spots early, stating, “The tickets are running fast. We’ve sold out our premier seats and also our Marc Márquez tribute.”

To ensure a smooth experience for the expected influx of attendees, SIC is working closely with the police (PDRM) to manage traffic. “We strive to ease the traffic during this period,” Hanif assured.
